BOOKS AND ART
I've had two life-changing events in my life: 1) the illness (acute myelogenous leukemia) and near-death of my son, Kevin, and more recently 2) the death of my wife, Lynne, from severe dementia at the age of 64. When Kevin was ill, I promised Lynne that if he survived I would some day write a book about the experience, and thus my first novel was born.
As an academic physician I have authored or edited more than two hundred scientific papers or textbooks. Not surprisingly, all of my creative writings have centered on medical themes. I have dabbled with art all my life but still consider myself a "budding" artist. My works (pen and pencil drawings, acrylic and oil paintings) are best described as fanciful.
